Skills Reflection:

Description- What Happened:

For Last Year’s Final Major Project, I Decided To Create A Podcast Which Was On The History Of Horror Films. There Are A Few Reasons Of Why I Chose To Create A Podcast Like For Example How I Really Enjoyed The Podcast Unit That We Had Done Earlier In The Year, However For This Unit We Had A Set Topic That We Needed To Stick To So This Was An Opportunity To Talk About A Topic That I Was Interested In. The Podcast Consisted Of Three Episodes And Each Episode Focused On A Different Set Of Time Periods These Were 1920s – 1950s, 1960s – 1990s And 2000s – Now. To Go Along With The Podcast, I Created Some Cover Art For Each Episode, This Allowed Me To Show The Wide Range Of Skills That I Had Researched And Learned Which Goes Into Creating A Podcast. Each Of The Podcast Covers Had Elements From The Specific Time Period That Is Spoken About As Well As Some Aspects That Tied The Each Episode Together To Create A Feel Of Almost Like A Series.

Feeling- What Were You Thinking And Feeling:

Overall, I Thought Last Years Final Major Project Went Alright I Feel That It Didn’t Go Overly Bad But I Also Feel That It Didn’t Go Overly Good Either. There Were Definitely Some Stronger Parts Like For Example The Research That I Did And There Were Also Some Weaker Parts That I Could Heavily Improve On For Example My Production And My Evaluating Skills. When Given Another Try To Create A Podcast For The Final Major Project, I Do Feel That I Can Do A Whole Lot Better. The Past Work That I Have Done Will Also Help Me Out With This As I Will Be Able To Look Back At Last Year’s FMP So That I Can See The Strong Points And The Weak Points That I Need To Work More On. This Will Allow Me To See What Would Be The Most Beneficial To Focus On So That I Can Do More Practice Or Research On This So That I Will Be Able To Improve.

Evaluation- What Was Good And Bad About The Experience:

There Were Both Good And Bad Aspects About The Podcast That I Did For My Final Major Project Last Year. One Of The Good Aspects From Last Year’s FMP Was My In-Depth Research, This Really Helped Me When Going Onto Actually Creating The Podcast. This Allowed Me To Have A Better Understanding About What Goes Into Creating A Podcast And What Works Best In Podcasts For Audience Engagement. This Also Helped Me With The Content Of The Podcast As It Is Quite A Broad Topic So This Allowed Me To Have Enough Knowledge To Make Sure That My Podcast Was Informative Enough So That The Audience Could Learn Something New From It. Another One Of The Good Aspects From Last Year’s FMP Was How I Showed My Process When Doing Any Practical Work. This Allowed Me To Show The Exact Steps That I Took To Create A Specific Aspect Of The Podcast, This Also Included Screenshots To Show The Process Visually. This Was Really Helpful As This Allowed Me To Do An In-Depth Reflection Of The Entire Process That I Had Taken While Laying This Out In An Easy And Neat Way. This Will Also Allow Anyone Who Is Viewing My FMP To See The Process A Lot Clearer As They Will Be Able To See The Process That I Took, The Improvements That I Could Make And Any Struggles That I Faced And How I Handled These Struggles All In One Place. However, One Of The Bad Aspects From Last Year’s FMP Was My Evaluation Skills As This Really Let Me Down. This Was Not In Enough Depth Which Then Lacked The Analysis That Is Needed To Create A Detailed Reflection Of The Work That I Have Done. Some Of The Aspects That I Didn’t Include Were What I Would Do Next Time To Improve, How This Helped Me With Future Work And What Went Wrong And How I Handled This. To Improve On This, I Am Going To Make Sure That I Analyse My Work More Thoroughly And I Am Going To Make Sure That I Think More About How The Process Went So That I Will Know What I Need To Include In The Evaluation. Another One Of The Bad Aspects From Last Year’s FMP Was My Production Process As I Feel That It Could Have Been Better. I Feel That Some Parts Of My Podcast Were Too Simple, Even Though It Was My First Time Creating A Proper Podcast I Could Have Been A Bit More Adventurous Like Learning A Cool Effect. I Also Feel That I Could Have Been A Lot More Organized With My Time So That I Was Able To Fit Things In Like Learning New Effects And If I Ran Into Issues During The Production Process. Although I Had A Plan Of What To Do, I Didn’t Factor In Extra Time For Anything That Needed It. For Example, The Script For The Podcast, My Podcast Episodes Ended Up Being A Lot Longer Than I Planned. If I Had Done A Run-Through Of My Final Script Before Doing A Proper Recording, I Could Have Changed Anything That I Needed To For The Final Audio. To Improve On This, I Am Going To Make Sure That I Block Out A Bit Of Time Just For Aspects Like This So That I Am Able To Do These Things Which In The End Will Make My Podcast A Lot Better.

Action Plan- If It Rose Again What Would You Do:

If These Issues Were To Rise Again In This Years Final Major Project, I Feel That I Will Be A Lot More Prepared To Deal With Them. One Of The Things That I Would Like To Do Is Plan My Time Out Better So That I Will Have A Set Amount Of Time Where I Can Go Back And Change Things If Any Problems Occur. This Will Be Helpful As I Will Have A Set Block Of Time To Fall Back On So If There Is Anything That I Need To Fix Or Improve On, I Will Already Have This Time Instead Of Having To Try And Fit It In During An Already Busy Schedule. This Will Improve My Work As I Will Have The Time To Reflect Over What I Have Done, This Will Allow Me To See Clearly What I Need To Fix And What I Need To Improve On. Another One Of The Things That I Would Like To Do Is To Improve My Skills More In The Research Stage So That I Have A Clearer Understanding When Going Onto The Production. For My Last Final Major Project The Effect I Tried To Use Didn’t Work Out No Matter What I Tried So If I Spent More Time In The Research Stage Practicing My Skills, I Will Be A Lot More Advanced When I Get Onto The Production. This Will Be Helpful As Instead Of Having To Refresh My Skills Before Starting Production, Which Will Waste Time, I Will Be Able To Get On Straight Away Because I Will Have A Better Understanding Of The Skill. This Will Improve My Work As Not Only Will I Be Able To Execute The Skill That I Want To Do But I Might Be Able To Work On Another Skill As If I Practice And Become More Advanced At A Skill, I Will Have More Time During The Production Process To Do This As I Will Know Exactly What To Do.
